CSI currently has three overriding research and development goals:
I. Developing (and freely disseminating) an enterprise model for sustainable innovation, a project aimed at enhancing the sustainability of corporate innovation by reforming it.
II. Developing (and freely disseminating) a corporate sustainability management (CSM) framework for sustainability management, measurement, and reporting in organizations (utilizing and integrating existing and emerging reporting standards, where appropriate); a project aimed at enhancing sustainability by means of innovation, by developing an aspect of management now missing from most corporations (i.e., CSM).
III. Working to help make Triple Bottom Line measurement and reporting schemes a reality by advocating the use of the Ecological Footprint method, and also by developing our own conception of a corresponding Social Footprint method, a capability currently missing from the sustainability landscape.

Our Focus of Attention
CSI currently has three overriding research and development goals:
1. To more clearly establish the causal connections between sustainable innovation (processes) and sustainability (outcomes) in business
2. To offer a methodology for designing, implementing, and maintaining sustainable innovation in business
3. To provide other measurement and reporting schemes of value to corporate sustainability managers that can help advance the field of Sustainability Management
Our current work includes the following key initiatives:
Flowductivity - A corporate sustainability reporting scheme that measures and reports on the sustainability of a business by focusing on resource use and waste flows, relative to the carrying capacity of its pro rata share of the ecology. To achieve sustainability, it's not maximizing productivity that counts, it's minimizing floductivity!
Macroinnovation - A patent-pending innovation and sustainability management method designed to help organizations achieve sustainable innovation. Free and perpetual licenses are available for end-user organizations in exchange for one-time training fees (developed in conjunction with partners of CSI – see our Links page for more).
Open Enterprise - An enterprise model for sustainable innovation that can serve as a target environment specification for practitioners of the Macroinnovation method, or other methods aimed at enhancing corporate sustainability (developed in conjunction with partners of CSI – see our Links page for more).
Please contact us for more information about any of the above.
